So, it took a little while but I finally did it. I know there was a lot of confusion when I explained it, but I hope these pictures clear a few things up. All I need to do now is trim it, any tips on how to do so would be greatly appreciated. Also, how do I smooth out the underside of the middle bowl.

Ahh, now I get it, but I think you're overthinking it. You don't need to do the center like that. Just make the whole thing have the same bottom. You center it wide and open two rings. Pull the middle ring up for the bowl, pull the outer ring up for the outer lip. Plus that big hole in the bottom will just hold water when you wash it.

I agree with Neil, but at the same time, the type of experimenting that you did here probably taught you a few things about manipulating the clay. At the same time, if you had wanted a bottom for the center dish that was higher than the outer dish, you have one approach. The other as Neil had said could be done by choking in the central form for a single piece thrown chalice approach.

 Agree with Neil that since the bowl isn't really elevated above floor level too much you could of gone with the traditional chip n'dip. (maybe the perspective is off though and it is)

For trimming the bottom, I would use a chuck. Throw a thick donut slightly taller than the height of the pot then rib off the slip and press a piece of saran/plastic wrap onto it. Rest your upside down pot on the donut, with the cup part inside the donut hole. Trim away then recycle the donut or keep it wrapped in plastic if you are making more of these. It's going to be fiddly trimming the underside of the bowl, think you are just going to have to keep removing trimming scraps to see what you are doing.

 

Kudos for trying something different.

If you plan on making more of these, bisque fire your chuck and you can use it over and over and over....

Or just let the chuck become bone dry.  

 

We have a 10 year old bone dry doughnut chuck in the studio that works just fine.

Ok, I admit it. I did something like this in my third day of class at the local HS. The form is almost ok and the glaze is absolutely hideous (low fire clay and glaze).

 

Not knowing the right way of doing this and thinking I did I decided to center and trim the pot on the wheel head using by the inner bowl. I didn't use clay to support the rim because I forgot. Well it worked.
