The pseudo crystalline appearance is appealing.
-
Love it.

Getting large pieces symmetrical correct is an art of itself. Well done.
-
Clever design work.

Pieter:
When I have chemically etched materials they separate out into carbons, solids, and metals. I would agree soluble salts are clinging to the sides: but by chance are those carbons floating? I do not know what the LOI of colemanite is off the top of my head, or how high you calcined this material.
-
I do like the color shift on this piece: the fade into a bluish tint, then out adds to the visual appeal.
-
Finding your voice I see. Well done sir.

Cool stuff John... you have earned it.

Could not imagine firing for four days. Guess I have become accustomed to my "microwave" style electric kiln. Punch in a few numbers and walk away.
-
Mark: John is adding crushed granite and other large particles to commercial clay.

Creativity at its best.love it. Sometimes the quiet statements in art, say the most.

Was going to hit the like button, but apparently I ran out. So let me do this: " I like"
-
Starting to see why you are going for the large particle grogs: the forms require it.
-
I would ask the influences for this form: but that is rather obvious.
-
Where is the dislike button? My " purity" senses are offended by such wreck less additions! Although, I am curious to see the final result.
-
So are we going to see this puzzle assembled?
-
I would say; take the scenic route..but! I think the name is fitting and correct.

Was this lady at kc in 2016? She looks oddly familiar to me?

On the left is a medium gray and taupe. On the bottom are green and yellow. The center is turquoise, and a rose to the right. The top two are translucent bodies with oxides.
-
I am working on three hybrid clay bodies, that do not fit into current formulation criteria.
When I get the bodies where I want them: which includes 0 absorption, higher Coe values, and lower shrinkage rates: will be sending a few potters samples to field test.

Yes, will be doing a series of split tile: half glazed, half not. Curious to see how crystals do on them: they are pure porcelain.

Love this plate. The blending of color is correct.- very well done.
-
Excellent work, well done. You kept the art proportionate to the piece, many swallow up the form with over- sized detailing. Warm, soothing, pleasant to look at.

John:
My "interpretation" of this piece- reminds me of ivy vines growing along a creek bank. Which for me means- very high marks. Like the calm / serene feeling I get viewing it.
