  1. What happens when you work like a maniac and then go on a trip for a week and eat junk food and don't get enough sleep? A week of forced vacation while you have a bug, that's what. -.- Itching to get back to work.

Yes, absolutely! I am much better, still just have a small lingering cough. -.- Back out in the studio today. I did not rush it as it never works anyway and the stress actually lengthens the amount of time I'm sick. There is NO POINT in trying to be out there when I'm shaky and sick.

  4. Just signed up for perspectives 2017 workshop with Naoki Izumi! So excited. These workshops are like an hour from my house and so affordable. I don't even know what it is about, but just to hear a master talk for two days will be beyond worth it.

This is such a difficult place to be. I'm so sorry, Tom. :( She is very fortunate to have a lovely son like you to watch over her. I always tell my son that right now it's my turn to protect and take care of him and one day when I'm older it will be his turn to protect and watch over me.

  9. Two glaze fires unloading this afternoon

  10. I now have enough dry bisque to fill the small kiln 2 1/2 times. So I think I'm going to power through and make enough bisque to fill the BIG ONE, which always gives me 4-5 glaze loads in the little one. Getting stocked up for my October studio show.

BUT I SAID I WOULDN'T DO THIS ANYMORE. LOL Last year I did this all year and couldn't handle it all the glazing that followed. Now I'm not even scared.

  11. After nearly two years of testing and writing formula limits: threw my final stoneware recipe this morning. Finally satisfied with the results.

  13. I swear, I have a half track mind. Saw an ad for a local poetry slam, and read pottery slam. My first thought was "that could be an entertaining fundraiser."

  14. Built glaze storage shelves and assembled a third wheeled rack yesterday. Muahahaha. STORAGE FOR DAYS!!

  15. Well, I finally managed to throw a form over the 12" tall mark. Managed to do it without it wobbling and spiraling. Just think, in another two years I might actually be good at throwing.

The more I throw the more I realize it's going to be a minimum of five more years before I feel like I really know what I'm doing. So I understand how you feel! My current height limit is 8 inches so you're doing better than I am! And probably haven't been throwing as long. If you find that encouraging at all. :)

We built custom shelves just the right size to hold two pots of glaze stacked, and also put together a wheeled wire rack. I have three and I use them for everything from storing my shipping supplies to rotating storage for wet/bisque/glaze ware. I keep the middle two of all three shelves clear for that purpose.

I agree!! :) Especially when you have work rotating in and out from the wheel, bisque kiln, glaze kiln. I will admit that my tendency is to fill empty space but the thing with a pottery studio is that work rotates in and out so you MUST have empty shelves!

  18. Glaze fire IN! As usual on the strength of one good test I have done something new with a whole kiln load because apparently I'm insane. I think it's going to be fine, though. I'm 98% sure.

I have a few photos of the orange/peach poppies up in my gallery if anybody wants to see. I am still not sold on it so I'm going to run some tests with each color interior paired with poppies in peach, orange/peach, and orange so I can compare them all. I have a feeling that some will go better together than others.

I will be taking photos today so I'll be able to share them in my gallery as soon as they're edited. I am very happy with my orange results even if nobody else sees a difference. :)

Joseph you're right. It's still just a little too hot to hold with bare hands but I did quickly take one piece out to look at it and so far it looks great, I was stressing myself out for nothing. Which I've never done before not even once. LOL

Ron, I added some orange and yellow to my formerly pale peach poppies. Maybe I really am nuts because everybody else doesn't seem to see much difference but to me it's really a distinct change. It adds shape and color to the poppies.
