Mark369
The dragon is winning! Mayco BG-600 Dragon Red cone 06 Some times it is fine. The next load it burns out. Programed kiln. Fire lower temp 010 and burns out? All on same plates with same design. Guess I am going to switch to Stain! I give up......
Chilly
I get the same with a couple of glazes, tangerine and christmas red. Never managed to get the full colour. Really frustrating when label says do not fire with copper based glazes. None of the same brand glazes mention whether or not they contain copper. Benzine
When I first started teaching, we use a Christmas Red low fire glaze. We also used an orange, which was so incredibly bright, that it was nearly glowing. Both of said glazes had to be fired nearly similarly glazed wares. If they weren't, the sides of the wares, that were facing other glazes, tended to turn white. I stopped using both glazes, because of that issue, and because of the toxicity issue with both. I found some other red and orange glazes, that were not only far less toxic, but also far more dependable. In fact, I don't think I have ever had the new orange and red, fail to turn out.
