J.J. Cress Company Electric Kiln

Recommended Posts

I bought a never used JJ Cress Electric kiln it’s a B-18-H 240V and cannot find a manual for it.  It has 2 manual dials.  The company Cress said they are not the same company so I guess this is from the 70’s?? And company is not longer in business.  I have 3 other kilns but they are digital Skutts and I don’t have a clue on this one.

There is a good chance you simply have a Cress kiln, they still provide documents for their kilns.. This likely is your wiring diagram https://cressmfg.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/B18H-240-VAC-1.pdf and this would likely be your manual https://cressmfg.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/BASIC-KILN-MANUAL-FOR-ABC-KILNS-1.pdf.

If you post the picture that @Dick White mentioned we could confirm.

If that is your kiln, as the diagram says, you will need a 3 wire 240v circuit protected by a 30 amp breaker and #10 copper wire for normal distance power runs.

Hey Sheri, I recently purchased a used b-18-h model myself too but I'm a little lost as to where to start. Were you able to figure out how to set the firing schedule with the knobs? Any tricks and tips would be greatly appreciated!
