LMH
I am having problems with the unglazed bottom of my glazed fired pieces getting surface stains. If I put a vase or mug down on a slightly dirty surface it picks up any color and is hard to wash off. I am using Laguna Bmix 5-6 no grog electric fired to cone 6. I use a sanding stone lightly on the bottoms after they are fired. Any suggestions on why this is happening and how to stop it would be appreciated. Thanks! Babs
Clean your surfaces:-))000)) Is it signalling porosity. Are the receptacles containing liquid when they pick up the stains?
neilestrick
I'd run a porosity test on your clay and see if it's actually vitrifying. It shouldn't stain easily.
