Hello need some help starting out.

Hello, I was wondering if I have a kiln that goes up to cone 6 as the max then would it be fine if I use cone5-6 clay? I'm pretty new to all this so maybe it's a simple answer but I don't want to overwork my kiln ( i don't know if that's the correct term for it). Would it be okay if I fire the clay to cone 5 instead of cone 6, because the clay that I want to get is a cone 5-6.

Would suggest firing lower even.

Cone 5-6 will max out your kiln.

Usually if you intend to fire regularly to cone 5 or 6, you need a kiln that is rated for cone 9-10. The elements will only hold out for a limited number of firings if you’re taking it to it’s top capacity. One cone down isn’t a very big difference if you’re a kiln element.

Oh alright thank you both, I guess I have to get a low fire clay oh well. I appreciate the response.
