Pearl Kala
Can anyone help me with a recipe for Green Clay Slip? I use stoneware Clay Body that gets fired at 1280 Degrees.
Min
You could use a porcelain claybody then add either chrome oxide, copper carbonate, ceramic stains or a combination of these to get the shade of green you are looking for. If you do use chrome oxide or a stain containing chrome them use a zinc free glaze or else the chrome will go from green to a brownish colour. I don't know what stains are available to you in India but if possible look for a "body" stain if thats the colourant you choose. For the most accuracy dry the clay then weigh it and the percentage of stain you will be using so you can alter and replicate the slip if necessary. If you don't have access to a porcelain claybody but do have glaze mixing materials you could try the Linda Arbuckle / Daniel Rhodes slip for cone 10 here. Arbuckle suggests using between 1 - 4% chrome, you could add a small amount of copper or cobalt to alter the shade of green to be a less intense green if that's what you are looking for.
