Lockerbie Willie Wheel

Recommended Posts

One of my wheels is a Lockerbie Willie Wheel.   Info online is very difficult to find, and there are no threads here about it, so i figured I'd start one .  At some point myself or someone else may need some info.

I assume the "E"   I assume the "E" designation is for electric, but I dont know what the ex or willie are.

This is not an electric kick wheel.  It has the same wooden bench, splash pan, and table as the lockerbie kicks but has a base that more  resembles the Soldner P series.  I will add more info (motor, foot pedal, etc) in future posts.  If anyone has any knowledge of these, I'd love to hear.

I do like this wheel a lot: more than my clay boss for sure.  I prefer it to the CXCs i used in class as well, though that may be only because of its character.

Just actually had this come up. ‘k’ I think  is kick, ‘EK’ electric kick. Parts still online (bearings, bolts, cups, motors, splash pans, table tops etc....) at Axner / Laguna https://www.axner.com/lockerbie-kick-wheels.aspx. Also have a one page general maint dock on the site I believe.

might have parts for yours as well.

Recent thread I think

Bill,

Yes k is kick and ek is electric kick.  But these are only electric,  they are not kick wheels and the designations are e and ex.

Aye.

Helpful info may include (but certainly not limited to) wiring diagram, controller board model/spec, motor model/spec, foot control specs (including specific parts, perhaps most specifically, the electronic part), bearing replacement procedure, bearing specs ...in short, maintenance/restoration detail.

Looks like a nice unit.

The only images o' th' sticker I'm finding either do not have a checkbox selected, or the Willie box is selected. It's likely a Willie - does it matter?

Very likely anyone trying to repair/restore such a unit will be flying solo and considering non original parts and/or mods.
