Bella Lorenzini
I’ve started making pipes for smoking out of ceramic and I wanted to paint them, but I wasn’t sure if theres some types of paint that are toxic when heated and inhaled. For example, if I painted inside the bowl part of the pipe, filled it with weed or something, lit it and inhaled, would it be toxic? If normal paints are toxic when used like this, is there a type of paint that wouldn’t be? Thanks.
Bill Kielb
Painting probably ain’t gonna work. My thought goes to underglaze and clear glaze for outside and plain old clay for the inside fired to full vitrification. Else a nice known durable white liner or clear glaze for the inside but that’s as far as I would go really. No paint, just won’t last and burned paint probably not good under any circumstance. Instantaneous temps for tobacco can be 800 degrees or more.
Sorcery
Give the paint to the huffer and keep the puffer safe! Why not glaze? Sorce
