Ktmountain studio
I have painted the bases of some of my pieces with an engobe and am curious if it will stick to a kiln shelf. Also can I stack pieces that have been painted with an engobe?
Callie Beller Diesel
It depends on the recipe, and the definition of engobe can vary depending on where you are in the world. If you’re working with a vitreous slip, yes it will stick. If you’re working with a commercial underglaze, some will and some won’t. It depends on the brand. LeeU
I use Laguna's Moroccan Sand Engobe--Ghana Black--on the bottom of forms-straight onto greenware--and it does not stick on my shelves (electric ^5/6).
