Cathryn
What type of wire can I use for whiskers on a ceramic dog -- wire that can go through bisque and glaze firing?

Cathryn
Thanks. Are you familiar with Kemper high-temp wire? Will that work?

Kanthal and Nichrome are indicative of a composition and often rated to cone ten. Kemper I believe make wire typically for cone 5. Most important thing is what you will fire it to and that it is rated at least to or beyond that. Since these will be whiskers on a dog, maybe, but I would make sure they are rated to your firing cone.

I have used Kemper high temp wire as well as kanthal and nichrome. They all have fired to cone 6 for me without problems. The wire will blacken in the glaze fire, but can be cleaned up with sanding. What gauge wire are you looking at? Roberta
