dgrier001@luthersem.edu
Hello! This is my first post here. I need to build a small custom clamshell tube furnace (6-8" wide, 1 or 2" inner diameter, 4-6" outer diameter) and have a basic question: what percent stretch do I need to do to a new coil before installing? For example, if I have approx 24" of element path I will be filling, what length element should I purchase? (I am also willing to cut to length and factor in the change in resistance, but would prefer to buy known resistance and stretch to fit.) Thank you for any advice! Hulk
Hi Dean! Euclid's is often cited as experts in elements (see contact page), they may be able to set you up: https://www.euclids.com/ Curious, what are you planning to fire?
neilestrick
It's not just about element resistance and length. There's the matter of coil spacing, wire thickness, and coil diameter. Like Hulk said, call Euclids and they'll set you up with exactly what you need.
