AnnaVela
I have a few pounds of recycled clay in my studio, which is a mix of earthenware red and mid.range stoneware (cone 5-6). I use it for my kids to play with while I’m working. But I’m curious if I could try to make something decorative of it and try to fire to cone 05-04. Have anyone attempted this or it is strongly not recommended because clay bodies are too different? Thanks.
Min
It will be fine to fire to at least the cone you fired your earthenware red clay to.
Callie Beller Diesel
As long as the two clays are homogeneous and you're firing to the lower temperature, there shoud be no issues. You can either slurry mix the two together, or cut and slam until they're even, depending on what state your clay is in.
