AmyBleas
Hello I am brand new to this so excuse me if this is a silly question, I was just wondering if anybody knew what would happen if I put a thin layer of Mother of Pearl Lustre onto a load of glazed beads, then accented over the top of this with gold lustre details? I have not used lustre before so am not sure how they act! Would the lustres run together or would the gold sit on top of the mother of pearl nice enough? Many Thanks in advance! Min
I believe you need to apply and fire the metallic gold lustre on first and then apply the mother of pearl and refire. Hi and welcome to the forum
liambesaw
Yeah you.want to fire the hotter one first, and then fire the colder one. I think gold is cone 018 and mop is cone 021? Something like that anyway.

Zoie
Quote I have always been taught that gold is a separate firing, by itself; that Mother-of-Pearl is not only a separate firing, but also (and more importantly) the last firing Gold on top of MOP underglaze By AmyBleas, September 12, 2019 in Clay and Glaze Chemistry
