Stillwater
Looking to purchase a new kiln to keep up with increasing demand of a busy community studio. I'm thinking an oval 16/18 cu ft will fit the bill. We fire to cone 6. It would be on 240 V 3P. Any opinions on the oval Skutt VS the Cone Art? Skutt 23.6KW VS Cone art 16.6KW How is it to change elements on the cone art? How many firings are you getting? Are they even? Thank you for your time Colleen
Bill Kielb
Similar products except I think your Skutt list is for the fiber model. They make a brick model with closer wattage. Personally I like the added insulation to the cone arts and Tuckers lid in my view has not been beat. Elements are deep groove stuff so conventional in my mind. also would just mention three phase in the Midwest is most often 208v so just suggest a double check that it is 240 v leg to leg. We have five Cone Arts and one L&L in our studio. I personally prefer the cone arts especially since two of them have well over 1200 firings but all kilns today seem similar and adequate. Skutt is pushing their diagnostic package these days which seems like a nice option.
