yappystudent
I noticed there wasn't one yet and it seems like it would be useful. That said I've looked it up recently on catalog sites and see it's basically glaze pigments of certain types in dry form, or sometimes liquid form, which you add to clay, and like glazes they have different ideal firing temps, chemical interactions, etc. Please help a person who until recently thought this was the same as the mason stains used to color concrete, but some special arcane kind that somehow withstands higher temperature. Yes, there is powdered pigment essentially used to color concrete, grout, and well, masonry, also called mason stains.
