Charles Maguire
My wife bought a very old pottery wheel that needs to have the belts replaced, but this old unit has an upper and lower bearing that makes to impossible to get the belts over the large pulley. Can any one advise me on how to install the belts?

No Longer Member
What you are describing sounds like the wheel shaft is loaded in double shear. If that is the case, then either slide the shaft up till either you have enough space to get the belt b/w the lower bearing and the pulley or pull it all the way out (either bearing or shaft) to clear the belt or remove the pulley to get the belt around it. i can;t say exactly what is needed until I can see how it's set up. Of course this is assuming the bearings have set screws or retaining collars that do.
