Refiring Saggar

Recommended Posts

Hi, do any of you know if you can refire saggar?

My kiln shut down twice during the fire and the second time it did not reach 800 deg C so the colours did not form, and I was wondering if I refire again with the same oxides whether they would take.

Thanks in advance. Have a good weekend.

Have you looked at the pieces? I fire my ceramic saggars to 900C in a raku kiln. I don't recommend firing ceramic saggars in an electric kiln, especially if you are using salt in with the combustibles.

The salt will corrode the elements.

Yes you can retire the work from 800 to a new firing of 900 but do it in a raku kiln or gas kiln. You may have ruined your elements.
