4catswhitby
Our staff unpluggled the kiln when it reached 460 because it was smoking/smelling. The next day, once it cooled I looked inside the kiln and the item seemed burnt (ive attached a picture) with no blue glaze. Is this normal? Can I restart the kiln? Mark C.
This looks like a bisque fire and the fish had some paper inside form and its burning out-which smells and looks burnt? If this is the case go ahead and fire no big deal. Mark
Benzine
I agree with the right, fine gentleman, from California. We use crumple paper in sculptures, as support, in my classroom and it smells a bit for a while.
Chris Campbell
Yes indeed ... remember the book "Farenheight 451" ... ignition point of paper .... they had to stuff those fish with something to keep them poofy ... and it does stink as it burns.
