  1. Very sad news, I will not be able to take ceramics next semester...it looks like my hobby will be put on hold for quite some time, as we currently do not have the finances to set up the rest of the necessary equipment in our current space.

      Have you thought about doing some handbuilding or coiling you can do that with very little space. Have them fired at a local ceramic shop. You can get a lot of work out of one bag of clay. One of my coiled bowls is 18 inches across and a quarter of a inch thick.

      Denice - there are few local shops. Our least expensive one is over an hour away and charges $120 per week with no instruction. No one does just firing/glaze of outside work. I found one woman in a closer city but she charges $250 per week.

      The only community studio in this area charges $20 per item per firing. I don't know how anybody can afford it. :(
