The most helpful advice anyone gave me was not to use a lot of water because it is so soft and the particles so fine that it soaks through and becomes harder and harder to throw. But I still prefer my groggy stoneware.

Weigh out your clay, wedge it, ball it up, let it set in the hot Texas sun for an hour- then throw it.

Warm clay always make for better throwing. But the Texas sun, in the summer, especially, is like a kiln. Ask Marcia. LOL. And summer is coming sooner than we may want. Friday, we will reach 85°.
