Before you even start looking at kilns you have some research to do. Wiring and location to start with and if you have a location will you be living at that location that it would be worth the cost of setting up a kiln. Sometimes it is cheaper to take a pottery class where you can have work fired when your in limbo. I have bought two used kiln and one new test kiln in the last 45 years. My paragon has finally gotten too old to rebuild and I just rewired my Skutt. I use a dual digital Skutt thermocouple set up if I want to do any down firing. Like I said a lot of research to do. My husband left for a convention in Galveston so I will be alone for several days. I spent at least 8 hours in my studio yesterday, it would have been more but I slept in late. It took me half a day to get my studio warmed up when it got down to -3. This part of Kansas usually doesn't get extreme cold, suppose to get up to 60 by Wednesday. Denice

I have spoke to a bunch of people who had a miserable holiday break including myself and my husband. My husband told me yesterday that he couldn't wait to get back to work at least he gets paid for being miserable. The gray skies and extreme cold doesn't help. I am still down and out from my MS relapse, I have two half finished pots in my studio but they are so cold I don't have a problem with them drying out. Denice

My neurologist has me on oral steroids to help me heal faster, there is a chance for some kind of lasting damage. What ever it is I can handle it, I am a tough old gal, I can still walk like a drunk and I am sure that will get better. It's a good thing I didn't have any big plans for Christmas.
