The story itself is not unusual.  The condition of the bottle is amazing.

I did a little web search and found that these bottles are not that rare.  Having it corked of course adds to the rarity, but the bottle itself is pretty common.  I fond a few a ebay of the 18th century for a little at $15. USD.

 

Having said that I really like this type of thing and have been making jugs and bottles lately and love the look.
