JSA
I am trying to make a yellow underglaze for a white stoneware miller clay body. I fire a slight reduction to cone ten with a clear 'limestone clear' glaze. So far I have tried several mason stains including ms 6450 at twenty percent. Also I have tried titanium dioxode at fifteen percent. The mason stains are firing very clear and the titanium is not quite a yellow. I would love any suggestions. Thank you John
Marcia Selsor
When using Mason Stains, you should use the reference guide. There is a body stain for yellow which might work better. The numbers for 6450 are 3,6 It is good to 2300 and can be used with or without zinc in the glaze. Cone 10 is 2360. Maybe it is too hot. maybe test the yellow body stain. That would be more appropriate for an underglaze. http://www.masoncolor.com/reference_notes.html
