Laurie
Is there are difference between slips and engobes, and are they used the same?
Biglou13
Not the same. You'll prolly get more response if you change your font which I find difficult to read.
PeterH
You might start with Robin Hopper's "7 Fun Ways to Decorate with Slips and Engobes" http://tinyurl.com/lnc6x82 Regards, Peter
oldlady
simple answer. slip is very wet clay. it will stick to clay. wet or damp clay. not fired clay. do not try to put it on fired clay. it will flake off. engobes are coverings for clay that contain several ingredients and may be used after clay is fired. this is not the only answer but might help. i am sure someone will criticize this answer. it is simple because the question is simple. i do not believe in making things complicated.
