Anyone Use Terracolor Glazes?

I've bought about a dozen different Terracolor glazes, which are supposed to have "built in effects", looking very much like Raku...

Two of the more solid color glazes look and work as they do on their product images, and one of the effect glazes also works beautifully and looks exactly like their product image.

However, all others I've tried are complete disasters compared to the product images, and I've tried to vary water content, bisque firing temps, application thickness, firing temps... the lot!

I don't want general tips, because even Terracolor themselves can't give me good pointers as to what I'm doing wrong. My question is this:

Has anyone here used Terracolor, and what are your experiences?

Yes, I used terracolor glazes a few years ago. Are you using the powder or the finished product? My experience was: if I used the finished glazes, the colors were the one on the product image spot on. When I used the powder and mixed it with the amount of water written on the product, I never got the color in the image. And, of course, it depends also what clay YOU use and what THEY used on the tiles in the picture.

I would recommend using the finished product (the liquid glaze, not the powder).

All in all I was content with Terracolor.

Wow, what a bummer. But that would explain a lot. Thank you for this! I will try the liquid form next.

I have most of the terracolour glazes in brush-on format....my mud room is about 8'x6' and I haven't got room for buckets of glaze! Some fire consistently well, some are so variable that I don't use them. I would love to hear from anyone who has had success in a small electric kiln, regarding the firing cycle they use. Thanks.

Im wondering about layering terracolor glazes. Has anyone done that. I'm thinking of, for example doing a layer of 'glut orange' (in dutch) with 'glut dark red'.  Anyone know if they mix ok. Like a layer or two of orangw, then red on top? Never layered different colors before and don't know if it works or not. Thanks!!
