docweathers
I've seen a number of descriptions up on the web of how to make a microwave kiln but a lot of them seem fairly flaky. It looks like it would be pretty straightforward but when you start messing with graphite and microwaves things can get out of hand pretty quickly. Has anyone made their own or know of a reliable procedure for making them? Thanks Larry
Bob Coyle
You can buy these small kilns for around $ 80-100. Fuseworks makes one. They are designed for fusing glass but I suppose you could fire small ceramic pieces in them. I don't think they are designed to go to more than about 1400 F or so Try this link.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=wzbrdhnQ9cw
docweathers
I know there are lots of places to buy these things. I just thought it might be a fun adventure to make one. I'm looking forward to any guidance others might have so that I don't blow myself up with my experimentation.

docweathers
My problem is that I'm such a beginner at all of this that I'm still putting together my basic infrastructure. I don't know quite what I need or the best way to get it, so the puzzle unfolds slowly.
