SleepingCatForge
Thanks Chris, for the suggestions. I do have the manual for the kliln, I had not used the cone fire function because it does not have a hold at peak temp, I had been told by Skutt that I needed to hold for 10-15 min at 2200 for more even firing. I have also talked to a man at a large S East show with beautiful cone6 elec glazes that said, "Lady, just hit ^6 and START and go back to the house". My KilnMaster II on my new (this summer) Skutt 1018 allows holds in the cone fire mode. Check the manual again. In the Cone fire mode, after entering the preheat, the cone number, then the speed, there should be a hold prompt. Good luck.
Deb Evans
You mentioned that the kiln is outside w/ a roof. air/wind is a variable and if you could put walls up ( tin roofing or plywood, whatever) the kiln will fire more evenly. Deb Evans
You mentioned it's outside w/ a roof- weather (wind, humidity) is a variable so try to enclose it - should reduce the variation a bit. good luck.
