I have some stoneware glaze that I want to put on some bowls and fire to cone 5.  All the firing that I have done to date has been to cone 06. Can anyone recommend a good firing schedule for cone 5.

If it's got any pre-programmed firings in it, go ahead and use a medium speed cone 5 schedule. If not, you can do something as simple as 325F/hr to 2000F, then 108F/hr to 2165. The standard medium speed firing for L&L/Skutt/Olympic kilns is 150F/hr to 250, 400F/hr to 1915, 120F/hr to 2165. If your work is large or thick, slow it down to 250F/hr.

Stoneware glaze. Do you know the cone it matures at?

Is your clay ok with goung so high..be written on bag swhere or contact supplier.

Tetlow...Australia?

I go if glazed pots dry

100degC/hr to 600degC

150degCc/hr to 1100degC

Then 80degC/hr to cone5 touches its toes .

I then hold for about 15mins.

Have you got a kilnsitter?

What max temp for your kiln?
