Pyewackette reacted to Jacqui for a gallery image, Meditating Woman
I created this figure when I felt a strong need to be more grounded through meditation and yoga, it felt only right to make a female figure, I myself being female.
I also think there are far more male meditating sculptures out there, people doing variations on Buddha etc.
I sculpted this out of terracotta clay, and plan on giving it an oxide wash to bring out some of the detail.

Pyewackette reacted to MaryJane4Clay for a gallery image, Floating Ikebana
Used in the Japanese art of flower arranging, Ikebana form the basis of the arranger's art, I think of them as a collaboration with flowers and vines. Any time I create an Ikebana I think of my cousin who has inspired me to fall in love with and make more of these unique vases. Made of mid-range stoneware clay and glazed in muted verdigris with a matte finish, Floating Ikebana stands 4 1/2" high, 4 1/2" wide and 8 1/2" in length. Plenty of openwork to attach vines as well as fully, water-tight compartments.

Pyewackette reacted to TriPal Arts for a gallery image, "Equus Machina" by George Palovich
Part of a series commenting on technology. The horse has electronic parts and 1's and 0's on its saddle; a gear is growing like a sore near its leg. Fired cone 5 oxidation, the piece measures 24 x 22 x 12".
