Yay, Bisque! ^_^

Don't ya just love giving new life to old equipment? They can keep those fancy-schmancy new computerized kilns and such. There's just something about an older kiln. Especially when you knew the person who owned it before you.

Mine had belonged to a sweetheart elderly lady who specialized in over glazing with hand painted gold decorating. I wish you could have seen the work she produced. She was one of my grandmother's best friends, and when Sylvia passed away, grandmother got her hands on it for me. It sat for nearly 20 years, just waiting for the day when I finally got things in life squared away to the point that I could start using it. That time came just this past autumn. It was a long time in coming, but worth every minute of the wait!

I've named everything from boats to cars, though I never thought of naming my kiln. I think I'll call her Sylvia from now on, in honor of the dear lady who owned it before me! :D
