Limagirl
Hello: I have a kiln with a Fire Right Automatic Kiln Switch. I am not sure if this will be the right kiln for me or if I should purchase a different kiln. I will be firing stoneware, bisque at a 06 and glaze firing at a 6. Any thoughts, input, or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
David Woodin
The Fire Right has been around for quite sometime and should work fine. What specific questions do you have? David
Limagirl
I did speak with a person at fire right, he was very helpful. I was concerned about firing to high too fast. He did state the fire right and kiln sitter together get be an issue but walked me through the settings. First bisque as we speak, I will know tomorrow if all went smooth
Mark C.
My kiln has a fire right switch I retro onto the circuit. Back in the day before computer kilns this was state of the art as far as turning up the kiln. I use a kiln setter and timer as well. What specific questions do you have? Limagirl
Hi Mark, My kiln is also equipped with a kiln sitter. In regards to the fire right, I was over thinking the percentage for heating up the kiln. I understood the timer on it but the set option was throwing me. I think I understand it. But, if you have any input it will be appreciated. I did my first bisque, seems to turned out fine. But, errors may show after the glaze firing. Mark C.
I just turn the nob to set -let it click twice then turn nob to whatever number I want it to read (usually between 4-5) which means in approx 4-5 hours kiln will be FULL on. I only bisque fire in this kiln as my glaze fire are in a gas cone 11 kiln. The fire right is just a ramp up device and the numbers are approx equal to hours. As you set all switches to full on on the kiln the fire right will be on full in whatever hours you set the knob to. I set it depending on how dry my pots are-usually they are bone dry.I use the cine sitter as well as the timer -the timer is my last safety shut off. I also go look at the kiln to make sure its turned itself off. Mark
