Recommended Posts

In this two-day workshop, join John in exploring the process of combining the world of slip casting and thrown functional pottery.

We will discuss the slip casting process and John will demonstrate pouring and attaching slip cast parts to thrown vessels. Students will have the opportunity to create a small sprig mold, use molds and incorporate slip cast parts to their own thrown or hand built vessels. Discussion will focus mostly around mold making, tinting clay and slip, damp boxes, sprig molds, surface staining, underglazes and any other questions you may have about the ceramic process.

Please bring a few small hard items no larger than the size of a quarter and a thrown or hand built vessel preferably made out of cone 5 BMix in the soft leather hard state.

Workshop will be November 18-19 from 10:00am - 4:00pm both days. Registration is $250
