Short answer to your question: more than likely some damage MAY occur. (Especially if you have no idea what the antique is made of.) Alginate is probably the least harmful but it is water based so the piece may see some water damage. Urethane rubber removes the water element but the piece would need to be sealed with a silicone like substance which may affect the piece. A photo would also help.
