Brooklyn Mom
Is it possible to attach a small dry handle to a wet casted cup? I’d think yes, but wonder if anyone does their production this way. Thanks for sharing your wisdom
neilestrick
Bone dry pieces don't attach well, if at all. You can get it to stick, but as the pieces dry the difference in shrinkage will cause them to separate, either partially or completely. With a mug you want the strongest connection possible, so I wouldn't do it. Better to make a new handle or rehydrate dry one.
PeterH
Is the handle also cast, or are you joining dissimilar bodies? PS Should you contemplate changing your process you may find some relevant comments in this thread, which covers more than the title suggests. I was afraid of this It’s not what I wanted to hear, but good to know. I like your suggestion to dehydrate.
