firing clay in a metal clay kiln

Recommended Posts

I am new to pottery and don't have my own firing kiln. What I do have however is a small kiln for the purpose of firing metal clay. It heats to the temperature of 850 C (1562 F). The temperature is not adjustable, only this temperature can be used for firing. I am wondering if it would be possible to fire smaller pottery items with this kiln? As I understand it, usually pottery is fired with increasing temperature at different intervals at a time. So, is there any way I can get clay properly fired with this oven?

Thank you for your input :)
