bismuth trioxide versus bismuth nitrate

Hi there, I've been doing some lustre glazing using Bismuth. I've been using Alison Grubb's glaze recipe which uses bismuth trioxide (which I have) and Greg Daly's recipes which use bismuth nitrate.

Can any one help me with differentiating between the two?  Many thanks Andrea

I assume that the Alison Grubb recipe is similar to this https://www.ceramicreview.com/articles/alison-thyra-grubb/

Which of Greg's recipes are you using? In his book "Lustre" he divides them into four classes: pigment lustres, lustre glazes, resin lustre and fuming.

PS I strongly suspect that when Greg says bismuth nitrate he means the compound more commonly called bismuth subnitrate. BTW  bismuth nitrate Bi(NO3)3 decomposes to bismuth oxide in the presence of water.

PPS I suspect that bismuth subnitrate may only be necessary for making resin lustres.
