Brittaini
I am making some small garden pieces and normally use a midrange stoneware. I want to experiment with some low fire crystal glazes. Should I bisque to full vitrification? My experience says low fire earthenware isn’t suitable for outdoor use. Thoughts? I usually bring things inside for winter but if I want to seek them I want to be up front about their care. TIA!
Min
Thread on testing claybodies for outdoor use where freezing is a concern here https://community.ceramicartsdaily.org/topic/23472-frostproof/. If your lowfire glazes are brush on ones they will adhere to the mature clay easier than a dipping glaze. Warming the pot up a little helps too but either way it’s a pain glazing vitrified clay.
