The dd-1 is a standard ramp soak temperature controller (on/off) the Pyx is similar but proportional control. Both are basically temperature controllers or PID (proportional, integral, derivative) style heat control. For the dd-1 I believe it supports on/off control only so soak or setpoint / safety. For both you will need to follow the manual, especially the PYX which proportionally raises the gas input to match the schedule. Can you post a picture of the control?
