Valeria Wicker
Hi! I am somewhat new at kiln repairs and I was wondering if anyone knows if an old Skutt kiln sitter 240v infinite switch can be replaced with a universal 240v infinite switch. I ordered the original Skutt part but because I am in a pickle with orders I am trying to figure out if there's a way to make the kiln work with another switch of the same specs and save precious time. P.S. My kiln's top ring shuts off after about one hour of firing. No loose wires. Technician over the phone is pretty sure it's the switch. There's really nothing else that could be besides the power plugs that attaches to the bottom ring. Help, please?
cadenrank
Yes, as long as the specs are correct, both in voltage and amperage rating, it will work. The universal one may have a different style of post for the knob, but the universal kits usually come with a knob, if your old one doesn't fit on it. neilestrick
I would go ahead and change them all since they may not have the same cycle times or knobs. Get a universal kit that comes with a knob. They're fairly inexpensive online.
