LisaJJ
Hi. I have a simple question. I'm just getting back into ceramics, after many years. I'm wanting to fire some bisque pieces with a red iron oxide wash. My question is, what temperature do I fire my pieces to? Thankyou, Lisa. oldlady
welcome to the forum. what kind of clay are you using? earthenware, stoneware or a porcelain? do you know at what cone the clay is totally fired? many clays in the UK have a long range of cone numbers, the clay should be fired to the top temp on those clays. bisque temps depend on many things so this is just the beginning of the discussion about your simple question. are you planning to use the iron wash, then bisque, then add a glaze and then fire the glaze in the final firing to the recommended cone number?
