"Alternative Firing Techniques"

I'm putting together a list of alternative firing techniques other than your cone 10 high firing method.  So far I have Raku, pit/saggar, sawdust, Obvara, wood and salt.

30 years ago, while I in my college ceramics class, I learned how to do a "strike" firing.  I don't remember the whole firing process.  All I remember is that I used a copper oxide bearing glaze but I'm not sure about the steps in the firing process.  The finished and fired pieces produced blood reds, purples and pinks.

I'm a novice of all the chemistry reasons on what caused the effect.  Is there anyone willing to share the firing process?

I'd like to include this "strike" firing technique to my list.
