Kyle M
Hello, I recently made a clay owl sculpture that turned out to be too thick in the forehead. It ended up bursting in the kiln. I have assembled the large broken pieces back onto the sculpture, and intend to glue them back on with quick-setting epoxy. After that I am hoping to find a solution to the missing pieces and cracks. A friend suggested I use sculpey to fill in the small and large cracks and let it dry, then paint. Luckily I already intended to not glaze this piece--I will just paint it with acrylic paint. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions on using sculpey on bisque-fired clay? Or do you have any other suggestions on how to repair/restore a cracked piece? Anything is much appreciated! Pres
I use epoxy putty for this type of repair, it is moldable, to some degree, acts like glue, and can be shaped with surform and sand paper, paints well also. best, Pres
