piperlori
So I picked up a lovely whatchamacallit vintage VB Athena California pottery but I don't know what it is! (Pardon my ignorance.) It looks lovely in my bathroom but it would be nice to know what it is/was used for! Can anybody tell me? Thanks!
dondon
It looks very much like a chamber pot to me...."Chamber" is an old-fashioned term for bedroom. It was used as a portable toilet in the bedroom at night. The chamber pot is also known as a jerry, a guzunder, a po (possibly from French: pot de chambre) or a thunder pot, or a potty. Obviously slip cast with transfer design.
