Mudhousestudio
I have a manual b23h J.J Cress electric kiln 240 volt 25 amp. I noticed when trying to do a bisque fire today that the porcelain connectors inside the control box are periodically making a popping sound and a blue spark. I turned the kiln off and am waiting for it to cool before getting in there. The issue began early in the firing somewhere in the first 2 hours. I am not kiln savvy. Any insight on what to do would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much, Suzanne
Foxden
I would look to see if there is some connection at that location. It might not be tight and is arcing. Perhaps it is a failing crimped connector. I would think that if it were actually shorting between the element and the kiln jacket you would have blown a fuse. When it's cool, UNPLUG it and take a look at where you saw the blue spark. It may be a simple fix.
