bciskepottery
Picked this up from John Britt's website; Alex Glover discussing kaolins at an NC Clay Club meeting. Our biggest competitors for kaolin . . . Firestone/Michelin/Rubbermaid.
curt
Although Alex Glover is discussing primarily kaolin in the southern US he spends a brief moment talking about his recent visit to Perth in Western Australia and the high quality kaolin deposits to be found there,... er...., here, cause that is where I am at! Does anyone know how to get in touch with this guy? Would be very interested top know which deposits he is talking about out here on the far side of the world.... curt
Thanks. Didn't realize he had retired from Active Minerals. Will try to track him down elsewhere.
Tim T
An interesting comment that Wedgewood would have filtered out the mica - many of the traditional clays in China (including porcelain) are much higher in mica than what we use in the West.
