Bill Kielb 1,125
Nice project but I would still favor off the shelf pid temp / soak controllers and standard kiln thermocouples. All very available, reasonably priced and industry proven interfaces. I put together a bare bones PLC and the cost for two gas kilns, current loops, power supply, cpu, touch screen etc..... in the hundreds. For home use, If it was not an attempt to learn more about ramp /soak or pid I would even look at the Bartlett controller. It is in the three hundred range with three zones and pre programmed pid logic. Hard to beat. picture of the PLC touch screen attached
