Isaac Button

It is wonderful. I had viewed it myself several years ago but not since CAD's Forum did I have the opportunity to share it.

Lucille thanks for sharing this, I was thinking the other day that all of my aches and pains were caused by my husband and I doing so much physical labor during our lives and maybe we should have hired more help. Were lazy louts compared to Mr. Button I am just in awe of the amount of quality work he was able to produce. Digging and refining his own clay was a tremendous feat in it self, I use to think I was pretty ambitious because I use to make my own clay from dry powered clays. Next time I feel tired and achy I'll think of Mr. Button and keep working. Denice

Yes, Lucille, thanks for that link, and thank you Lakeside Pottery for maintaining such a wonderful and valuable historical clip on your website.... it is certainly a must see for any with an interest in the history of ceramics or pottery. What an awesome ceramist Isaac Button was!

You're welcome to all.

Yes Mr. Button was amazing. He was one of the last English country potters. He tried to find an apprentice to eventually take over the factory but couldn’t find anyone willing to do it. His factory has since been turned into a museum and his pots are now collector’s items.

Denice don’t feel bad about being tired. It is hard physical work potting. We all need in our work cycles to 'throw' in rest times and trips to the spa.
