About 35 years ago I ran across a technique for painting bisque using oil based stains. I loved the final result, but no longer have the stains and can't find them online. I don't even remember the name or manufacturer. Does anyone else have any experience with something like this? I antiqued the white bisque first with a dark color that I wiped off to the desired shade using turpentine, then painted over it with colors to the desired finish. The colors could also be wiped away if desired. I always thinned the stains with turpentine before using them, and the final product was a lovely translucent finish that resembled china painting on porcelain.
